'Wouldn't surprise me': Pundit reckons 'amazing' Man City player could sign for Aston Villa one day

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that he would not be surprised if a certain Manchester City player joined Aston Villa one day.

Aston Villa’s rise has perhaps been the biggest headline of the 2023/2024 season.

After Unai Emery’s appointment last season, the world got a glimpse of how much he could impact this Villa side.

But perhaps even the most ardent Aston Villa supporters did not expect their team to be sitting in fourth place with two games to go.

Furthermore, it seems likely that the Villains will end up qualifying for the Champions League.

Fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur are seven points behind them in the league with a game in hand.

Agbonlahor says one Man City player will sign for Aston Villa one day

Spurs’ game in hand is against Manchester City and as a result, it will be difficult for them to win and keep the pressure on Villa.

Even if Ange Postecoglou’s side end up beating Pep Guardiola’s men, the gap between them and Aston Villa will be four points.

However, Villa also have tough tests awaiting them, as they face Liverpool on Monday and travel to Selhurst Park to play against an in-form Crystal Palace side.

Gabby Agbonlahor, who played with Jack Grealish at Aston Villa has claimed that his return to his boyhood club in the future would not surprise him if the club are in a promising space.

Agbonlahor told the Ben Heath Podcast: “It wouldn’t surprise me if he comes back. Later down his career, depending on where Villa are at, where his feelings are but he’s definitely still Villa through and through for me and he would look back at amazing times for Villa, playing and captaining his boyhood club and went and done amazing things with City.”

Grealish could be attracted by the prospect of an Aston Villa return

Much like Gabby Agbonlahor claimed, in our view, Jack Grealish could consider returning to Aston Villa in the future.

Currently, Grealish’s focus must solely be on continuing to achieve greatness at City and becoming one of the best players in the world.

But the £100 million man will decline one day, like every player.

When that is the case, perhaps Grealish might be attracted by the prospect of a romantic return to his boyhood club, Aston Villa.

Like several other players, the Englishman’s dream could also be to sign for the club that gave him his first start in football.

That would be a heartwarming last chapter in Grealish’s career but for the time being, it is unlikely that the thought of leaving City has even crossed his mind.
