Work set to begin on resurfacing Upwell junction as it sets to close overnight

Work will begin to resurface the junction in Upwell to replace a worn-out road.

Resurfacing of the A1101 Main Road with the B1094 Silt Road and the B1094 Penny Toll Road will take place starting from Wednesday, May 15.

The works will replace the existing, worn-out road surface and is expected to take two nights to complete, subject to weather conditions.

The work, which will cost £117,000, will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors.

To minimise disruption, the resurfacing will be taking place overnight from 7pm to 6am, with the work expected to be completed on Friday, May 17.

To ensure the safety of site staff and the public during the works, overnight road closures will be in effect on B1094 Penny Toll Road and B1094 Silt Road.

Between these days, during the day, the road will be re-opened during the day under a temporary 30mph speed limit.

There will be temporary two-way traffic lights on A1101 Main Road in order to maintain access at all times.

All bus routes will remain operational where bus stop times are outside of the night-working hours.

Vehicle and pedestrian access to properties within the closure will be maintained as much as possible, but there may be delays due to the nature of the works.

The county council thanks people for their patience while this surface improvement work is carried out.
