Man arrested and pedestrian seriously hurt after hit-and-run crash involving Renault Megane Scenic on West Walton’s Wisbech Road

A man has been arrested after a hit-and-run crash at West Walton last night left a pedestrian seriously injured.

Police are appealing for dashcam footage and witnesses following the serious collision between a blue Renault Megane Scenic car and a pedestrian on Wisbech Road.

It happened at the junction of Hunchback Lane, between 9.30pm and 9.45pm. Officers said the driver failed to stop at the scene.

Road closures were in place from Wisbech Road to West Walton last night while emergency services were on the scene which have since been lifted.

The pedestrian - a man in his 30s - was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with serious injuries, where he remains.

A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol, failing to stop and no insurance.

He is being questioned at Lynn’s Police Investigation Centre.

Anyone with any information, dashcam footage, or who witnessed the manner of driving of the blue Megane between the times stated is asked to contact Norfolk Police.

Residents of Wisbech Road in West Walton are also being asked to check CCTV cameras and camera doorbells.
