'I am told': Ipswich want to sign 'very talented' Chelsea player as well as Omari Hutchinson – journalist

Ipswich Town has now been linked with another Chelsea player as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.

Ipswich now know they’re back in the top flight next season after a 22-year exile. This comes after Kieran McKenna’s side secured second place in the Championship and back-to-back promotions in the last two years.

There’s already been speculation that Ipswich want to re-sign Omari Hutchinson in the summer. It’s no great surprise they want the Chelsea-owned youngster back because he’s been instrumental during a season-long loan at Portman Road this campaign, scoring 11 goals and making six assists. TEAMtalk recently claimed Ipswich are among those interested in signing 20-year-old attacker Hutchinson.

Ipswich also keen on Chelsea 22-year-old

On top of Hutchinson, Ipswich have Chelsea’s Armando Broja on their transfer radar.

Broja, 22, is a Chelsea-owned striker who spent the first half of the season at Stamford Bridge before spending the second half on a disappointing loan spell with Fulham. He’s only played seven times for Fulham, scoring zero goals.

Well-respected journalist Simon Phillips has reported today via Substack that both Ipswich and Brentford may be keen on signing Broja this summer.

He’s been told Brjoa will leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window, with clubs now beginning to take an interest.

Phillips wrote: “I am told there is other interest for certain [in Broja]. But the two clubs that sources know are keen on Broja is Brentford, and newly promoted Ipswich Town.”

Armando Broja needs fresh start

We think it seems best if Broja, who’s a product of the Chelsea academy, finds a new permanent home this summer.

The young centre-forward still has lots of pace and potential, but he needs somewhere he can start games consistently and grow.

Frank Lampard described Broja as “very talented” back in February 2022, as quoted by Metro Sport.

He’s just not been able to kick on since, largely to a serious injury that halted him in his tracks. It’s now a case of needing regular starts again to thrive.
