Hungary will not participate in the NATO fund for Ukraine worth 100 billion euros, proposed by NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, stated Péter Szijjártó, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary.

"Hungary will stay out of NATO's crazy mission despite all the pressure," Szijjártó emphasized.

This confirms the position of the Hungarian government's spokesperson, Zoltán Kovács, who stated that Budapest would not support any NATO proposals that allegedly "might draw the alliance closer to war or shift it from a defensive to an offensive coalition."

NATO Fund for Ukraine

In early April, Western journalists reported that the North Atlantic Alliance could establish a fund of 100 billion euros, within which Ukraine would receive military assistance.

As media outlets wrote, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg intends to approve the initiative at the Alliance's upcoming Washington summit. The summit is scheduled for July 9-11.

However, later, Bloomberg, citing sources, clarified that the fund could consider assistance to Ukraine on a bilateral basis. In this case, support within such an initiative "would be insignificant."

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Stoltenberg have already discussed the establishment of the fund during the NATO Secretary-General's visit to Kyiv.
