'It was him': Cesc Fabregas makes claim about Emmanuel Adebayor when they played together at Arsenal

Cesc Fabregas has made a claim about Emmanuel Adebayor after their spell at Arsenal together.

It’s fair to say that Emmanuel Adebayor isn’t exactly a popular figure at the Emirates Stadium.

The Togo striker was snapped up by Arsene Wenger from Monaco back in January 2006.

Adebayor went on to score 62 goals in 142 appearances for the Gunners before forcing a £25 million move to Manchester City in the summer of 2009.

Arsenal fans will need no reminding of his antics just a few months after his exit as he ran the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of their supporters at the Etihad Stadium.

Despite the sour ending to his time at Arsenal, there is no denying that Adebayor boasted a brilliant record with the Gunners.

But Cesc Fabregas has named the striker as the player who missed the most chances he created during his time in north London.

Fabregas says Adebayor missed the most chances at Arsenal

Speaking on Planet Premier League, Fabregas was asked who missed the most chances that he created during his time at Arsenal.

“If I remember well it was Adebayor,” the Spaniard said. “He did score quite a few to be fair, but we had two seasons together and there were some misses!”

Of course, Fabregas also left Arsenal just two years later as he secured a switch back to Barcelona.

But unlike Adebayor, the Spaniard very much remains a fan favourite at the Emirates, despite joining Chelsea later in his career.

Adebayor also later joined Arsenal’s bitter rivals Tottenham, where he would end up netting two goals in seven games against his former side.

How many assists did Fabregas provide at Arsenal?

Despite leaving Arsenal in his prime years, Fabregas racked up a total of 303 appearances for the club.

The Spaniard was renowned for his creativity and arguably remains one of Arsenal’s best midfielders of the Emirates era.

Fabregas provided 95 assists during his seven-year spell in the first-team while also netting 57 goals.
