When will Sunderland appoint their next manager?

Sunderland have been without a manager since they sacked Michael Beale in February, three months ago now.

But journalist Michael Graham recently revealed that Louis-Dreyfus is still taking his time before hiring the club’s next manager, posting on X to say that Sunderland may not have a new boss in place until the end of May.

Will Still to Sunderland latest

Will Still left Reims at the start of May, reigniting rumours that he’s heading to Sunderland this summer.

The 31-year-old has been tipped to be a good fit for Sunderland and their young first-team squad, though former Black Cats striker Marco Gabbiadini has expressed concerns over Still’s inexperience.

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey recently spoke exclusively to Sunderland AFC News, revealing that he thinks Sunderland’s low budget might be a deterrent for Still.

Bailey said: “You know, Will Still is not coming to Sunderland on their current budget. No way, shape or form. He’s got bigger fish to fry. I think Still would be attainable in theory, but not with the budget that’s in place there.”

Rene Maric not a contender for Sunderland

Another young manager linked with Sunderland is Rene Maric, who currently coaches the Bayern Munich U19s side.

He emerged as a new contender last months but more recent reports have revealed that Maric, 31, has actually been on Sunderland’s radar for some time now.

Maric was looked at when Sunderland sacked Tony Mowbray at the end of last season. This time round though, Maric is not thought to be a contender for the job on Wearside.

Danny Rohl latest at Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl showed Sunderland exactly what they want and need in a manager during his side’s win at Sunderland on the final day of he season.

The Owls secured their Championship safety and now appear to be in the process of securing Rohl’s future to, with talks of a new contract for the impressive German all but ruling him out of the Sunderland running.

Liam Rosenior to Sunderland rumours after Hull City exit

There may be another potential candidate for Sunderland in Liam Rosenior, who was sacked by Hull City on Tuesday despite leading the Tigers to a 7th place finish in the Championship.

Formerly Derby County manager, Gabbiadini has tipped Rosenior to be a good option for Sunderland, compared to the likes of Still who lacks experience and has never managed in England.

But Sunderland fans have since expressed mixed feelings about the possibility of Rosenior becoming the club’s next manager.
