‘That’s what we lack’: Pundit says Arsenal need to sign someone like £15m Tottenham player

Arsenal have arguably been the best team in the Premier League this season, and yet, there’s still a lot of talk about what they need to do this summer.

Indeed, the Gunners continue to be linked with new midfielders and new strikers heading into the transfer window.

Speaking on the Handbrake Off Podcast, Adrian Clarke has been discussing some of Arsenal’s other needs heading into the summer transfer window, and he’s claimed that the Gunners also need a new left-back, stating that he’d like to see the north London club sign someone similar to Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie.

Arsenal need someone like Destiny Udogie

Clarke spoke about what Arsenal need this summer, naming Destiny Udogie as the type of player he’d like to see Arsenal sign.

“I would go for a left-footed defender, someone quick, someone rounded, I don’t know who this player is. Someone like the Spurs kid Destiny Udogie, I think that’s what we lack, someone who defends, can invert and can fly forwards,” Clarke said.

Udogie is a rare talent

Clarke says that Arsenal could do with a player like Udogie, but the reality is that every team could.

Udogie is one of the world’s premier left-back talents, he’s young, he’s exciting and he’s versatile.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, and any other club looking for this type of player, these types of footballers don’t come around very often.

Say what you will about Tottenham’s performances as of late and the general direction Spurs are heading in, the signing of Udogie for £15m two years ago was a fantastic bit of business, and there are probably a number of Premier League clubs who wish they’d have latched onto that bargain signing when they had the chance.

Arsenal would do very well to find a player like Udogie this summer, that’s for sure.
