Fabrizio Romano says Man United could land Brazil international for £47.5m this summer amid 'verbal agreement'

Manchester United are likely to bolster their ranks in the summer transfer window in a bid to turn their fortunes around.

There’s a good chance the Red Devils hierarchy and manager will look to strengthen their defence in the coming months.

Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans will be out of contract soon, while Victor Lindelof’s future at Old Trafford is also uncertain.

One defender who is currently being linked with Manchester United is Juventus’ Gleison Bremer, one of the best centre-backs in Serie A at present.

Fabrizio Romano has now issued an update about the Red Devils’ interest in the Brazil international and the current state of play about his future.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Manchester United and Gleison Bremer?

“Let me clarify something on the Brazilian centre-back,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

“I always told you for months that he remains one of the names on the list at Manchester United for the summer transfer window.

“The release clause will be active next summer, €25million (£21.5million).

“But there is a verbal agreement between the Agents of Bremer and Juventus to let the player go this summer already, in case they receive a similar proposal around €55-60million (£47.5-51.5million).

“In this case, Juventus has to be involved. So next summer, any club can go there with €25million, pay the money and sign Bremer without asking anything to Juventus.

“This summer, Juventus has to be involved in the conversation, about the payment terms, how to structure the deal, whether they want to include some add-ons.

“So you need a conversation with Juventus, and Man United are informed about that. So let’s see what’s going to happen with Gleison Bremer.”

Manchester United will fancy their chances of signing Gleison Bremer

Calciomercato recently reported that the Red Devils are ‘ready to make a €50million (£43million) lunge’ for Bremer this summer.

Based on Romano’s report, they’re just £4.5million away from the lower end of Juve’s valuation for the player.

With that in mind, Manchester United will certainly fancy their chances of some positive discussions with the Bianconeri at the very least.

The Red Devils really need to bolster their defensive ranks. And Bremer has shown that he’s got what it takes to shine at the highest level.
