Tyler Boebert, Rep. Lauren Boebert's (R-CO) eldest son, charged with I.D. theft and going on shopping sprees by swiping stolen credit cards, says he's still in between lawyers.

“I have now sent...um, I can’t remember what...like, the document to sign up for a public defender," Tyler told 9th Judicial District Judge John Neiley Thursday in court, Westword reported. "I’ve sent it in. I haven’t gotten a message back, but it was very recently. It was only a couple days ago."

Tyler claimed he interviewed one private attorney to take the case, but hadn't yet decided.

"I’ve gotten a lot closer," he told the judge. "I’m working things out with a lawyer to get that figured out. So it seems like I do have options. But I’m still waiting to get the 100%."

The outlet noted that Tyler has enough funds to hire a private attorney but is still figuring out his legal foot forward.

Neiley expressed frustration with Tyler's tardiness.

"I wish you had turned in that application a little sooner," he told him in court, according to the outlet. "If you’ve done that, you just have to wait for the public defender to make their decision. We can continue it to the June 13 docket."

Tyler and his three underage pals were caught on surveillance camera marauding around Rifle, Colorado, breaking into people's cars, taking any credit cards they had inside, and using them to go on a shopping spree.

Last month, Boebert, 19, who faces felonies for criminal possession of identity documents, whined to the judge of his money woes.

"We are working to hire an attorney, but it's just been kind of hard with the prices," Tyler said at the time. "Worst case scenario, if we can't get something figured out with the lawyer then we're going to apply for a public defender or whatever works best for me."
