Reader’s letter: Victory hope for General Election

Last week’s elections have shown that Labour can defeat Robert Jenrick in Newark at the General Election.

At the last General Election Newark constituency had a Tory majority of 21,816 that has now completely melted away.

The race for the Police and Crime Commissioner had Labour’s Gary Godden win Newark in a very close race. Labour won the election by 36 votes.

Robert Jenrick’s Tory majority has totally melted away.

We all know that General Elections ask the question ‘who do the public want to form the next government’ — and that choice will be simple.

More division, chaos, incompetence and sleaze with the Tories or Labour’s national renewable with a plan for our health services, our infrastructure, our public services as well as taking our streets back.

Last week Labour won with our new East Midlands mayor, Claire Ward, Police and Crime Commissioner Gary Godden and our New Labour Town councillor Laurence Goff, who received more votes than the other two candidates put together.

Labour will never be complacent about public support, as the party of services we will work everyday to earn your trust a deliver the change you so desperately desire. — PAUL TAYLOR, Labour councillor.
