'His mojo back': Legal analyst says Trump now acting like trial 'going in his favor'

Donald Trump's mood has significantly increased since adult movie actress and director Stormy Daniels was on the stand, a legal expert shared Friday.

On Tuesday and Thursday of this week, Daniels testified in Trump's Manhattan criminal trial, where the ex-president faces 34 felony counts accusing him of falsifying business records around a hush-money scheme to keep quiet a sexual relationship he had with her.

During Tuesday's proceedings, Trump appeared very angry, audibly cursing in a way that the jury could hear and earning him an admonishment from the judge.

By Thursday, it was as if Trump's bad attitude spread as his lawyers cross-examined Daniels, spending more than an hour arguing about whether or not they had dinner on the night of the tryst.

But by Friday, however, his attitude began to change, according to MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin.

"One thing I would want folks to know is that Donald Trump seemed a lot more energetic and engaged today, which is grossly disproportionate to the testimony we heard," she told host Jose Diaz-Balart after the trial had wrapped for the day.

"This was not a particularly interesting, much less sensational day in court," she explained. "We saw a former president who seemed to have sort of his mojo back, for lack of a better word. Frequently consulting with Todd Blanche on one side of him, frequently whispering, watching attentively. It's almost as if he feels that things are going in his favor."

Trump's former Oval Office operations director appeared in court on Friday morning, where she spoke highly of the former president and even apologized to him when she began weeping.

"It's anybody's guess how things are going because I or other legal analysts can appear on the network and tell you our take on things," Rubin said of the courtroom. "The only voices that matter are the 12 members of the jury."

She argued that anyone trying to read a jury is just guessing.

"Wherever the former president is getting the energy from, it's not clear to me," Rubin said. "It may be that he feels his lawyers did a good job dismantling Stormy Daniels' story. That wasn't my takeaway from watching their testimony over a couple of days. But it may be what he got, particularly given that he tends to surround himself with sort of an echo chamber of MAGA-friendly media, and in that world, it was a slam dunk for him."

Trump claims that he never had an affair with Daniels and is innocent of the 34 felony counts.
