The Russian advance in the Kharkiv region did not trigger an escalation of occupier activity on the southern front, according to the head of the Centre for Strategic Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Pletenchuk.

"No changes in the state, situation, or character of enemy actions have been detected, or rather, they are absent. Similarly, there are no signs of offensive groupings being formed. If it was expected there (in the Kharkiv region), there are no such signs in the south," he said.

Overall, according to the spokesperson, there were 14 assaults in the Operational Command South, mostly in the Zaporizhzhia region - Robotyne and Staromykhailivka, which are ongoing as of this morning, May 11.

"The enemy also attempted assaults in the Kherson region, in the area of Krynky. But the situation remains stable. Yesterday was the first day when no clashes were recorded in the area of the Nestryha island," Pletenchuk noted.

Frontline situation in Ukraine

There have been 104 clashes on the front lines in Ukraine in the past day. Ukrainian forces repelled most attacks on the Avdiivka and Bakhmut fronts.

Regarding the Kharkiv region, where battles are currently ongoing after Russian forces attempted to break through the border on May 10 but were stopped, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 9 attacks in the areas near the settlements of Strelecha, Krasne, Morokhovets, Oliinykove, Lukiantsi, Ohurtsove, Hatysche, and Pletenivka.

Meanwhile, the Institute for the Study of War believes that Russian forces are likely conducting the initial phase of an offensive operation north of Kharkiv.
