'Going to have to sell': Club may have to cash in on De Bruyne-like £45m midfielder Spurs reportedly want - journalist

Tottenham Hotspur are likely to have a big summer ahead of them as Ange Postecoglou looks to bolster his side’s ranks in the transfer window.

Spurs have had a decent season for the most part and, even though they’ve lost form in recent weeks, their foundations are good.

Midfield is an area in which Tottenham could potentially strengthen, and numerous midfielders have been linked with a switch to Spurs in recent months.

One of those is Leicester City’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who has just helped the Foxes return to the top flight at the first time of asking.

However, now they’re back in the Premier League, Leicester must start complying with the league’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

The club reported a pre-tax loss of £89.7million for the 2022/23 season, which means they’ll have to be careful now they’re back in the top flight.

This could force them to sell one or more of their most valuable assets in order to stay within PSR and not have trouble further down the line.

CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has now provided an update on Dewsbury-Hall amid links with Tottenham this summer.

What has Ben Jacobs said about Tottenham target Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall?

Jacobs wrote on GiveMeSport: “I don’t think the Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall links have overshadowed Leicester’s promotion. It’s a fantastic achievement.

“And it was important for Leicester to come up the first time of asking, but we know now that they fall under the jurisdiction of the Premier League, and they could be in a difficult financial position.

“So Leicester are going to have to sell despite coming up to the Premier League, and they might have to still sell relatively fast.

“And this is where Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – a pure-profit player as it’s known – is maybe somebody that the club feel at the right number they have to sacrifice even though the player has said publicly that he’s got no intention of leaving.”

Who is Tottenham Hotspur target Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall?

Dewsbury-Hall joined the Leicester academy aged eight and has risen through the Foxes ranks to become a star.

The 25-year-old has made 129 competitive appearances for the Foxes, registering 17 goals and 20 assists.

The reported Tottenham target told Sky Sports back in 2022: “The ideal player to describe myself as would be a mix between Paul Scholes and Kevin De Bruyne.

“If I ever got to that level, I’d think I’d completed everything! That’d be me done.

“Scholes was my idol growing up. And I think De Bruyne’s the best midfielder in the Premier League.

“Having their attributes – the unbelievable passing, being so technically gifted, comfortable on the ball, the awareness and knowing all the space around you.

“That’s what I’m working towards in my game.”

All in all, Dewsbury-Hall looks like a great shout for Tottenham. And former teammate James Maddison will have probably put a few good words in for the £45million-rated ace too.
