‘Superstar’: Pundit says ‘ridiculous’ Man City player is now better than anyone else in the Premier League

Paul Dickov has said that one Manchester City player has been better than anyone else in the Premier League this season.

The Manchester club could get their hands on another Premier League title over the coming days depending on how theirs and Arsenal’s remaining games of the campaign pan out.

If the Blues were to be crowned league champions once again, they would become the first side to ever win four Premier League titles in a row.

Prior to today’s away match at Fulham, one pundit and former City star shared his praise for one particular figure in Pep Guardiola’s squad and what he’s delivered for the team this season.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Dickov had this to say when asked about Phil Foden’s performances for City this season.

He said: “In the last couple of seasons, and I say this a lot, his levels have always been really high, but because he is in a team with Kevin De Bruynes and Erling Haalands, they seem to get a lot of the adulation, he goes under the radar a little bit, but this season he has been brilliant, especially when Kevin De Bruyne was out and Erling Haaland missed 10 games.

“He is still a young boy at 23. He took the mantle of being the best player, and he has been absolutely brilliant. He keeps getting better and better.

“He is a superstar already, and to think he is only 23 years of age, the ceilings he is hitting are ridiculous.

“For England in the summer, I hope he plays him in the middle. I hope Gareth [Southgate] plays him in the middle because, without a doubt, that’s his best position, and to try to fit him in, is a problem that Gareth’s going to have.

“There is so much competition in there, but, as you say, for me, he has been the best player in the league this season.”

Dickov is right to praise Foden

With 32 league games under his belt this season before the match against Fulham, Foden has scored 16 goals and provided eight assists, which is more goal contributions than he’s made in any other league campaign at City.

Foden’s overall performances have earned him a solid season rating of 7.51/10 from WhoScored, making him the fifth-highest-rated player in the division.

Last week, the midfielder won the Football Writers’ Association’s Men’s Player of the Year award and has more recently been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Season award.

With all of that on board, it’s understandable why Dickov has been so impressed with the City star this season and thinks he could go on to play a big role in the Euros with England.
