Ukrainian military continue to resist Russian troops on May 11, as they intensify their activities in the border regions of the Kharkiv region, informs Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Group.

"At present, defensive battles are ongoing. Counterattack measures continue in the directions of the populated areas of Lyptsi and Vovchansk. The enemy there is deploying infantry and equipment. Battles also persist along the border, in the vicinity of those populated areas that were essentially in the grey zone - Strilecha, Pylna, and Borysivka, as well as the areas of Oliinykove and Ohirtseve," he explained.

Additionally, according to the spokesperson, defensive forces are operating at prepared fire lines, delivering fire strikes against the troops that have entrenched themselves in defense against the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"There is also a decision from the leadership to reinforce the units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which is already being implemented," Voloshyn stated.

Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region

On May 10, Russian forces attempted to breach the Ukrainian border from the Kharkiv region. However, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to repel the Russian attacks, engaging in artillery combat.

The air raid lasted over 10 hours in the region yesterday. Besides pressure on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Russians are also shelling the local population. Specifically, in the center of Vovchansk, almost no intact buildings remain. There are also casualties among the civilian population.

At the moment, fighting continues in this zone. Yesterday, it was reported that Russian troops entrenched themselves in the defense of the Kharkiv region. However, by the morning of May 11, the General Staff clarified that the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 9 attacks in the areas of the populated areas of Strilecha, Krasne, Morokhovets, Oliinykove, Lukiantsi, Ohirtseve, Hatyshchi, Pletenivtsi in the Kharkiv region.
