Little Barn Cakes has grown year on year, and in 2018 moved to a purpose-built cake studio in Calves Lane, Stoke by Nayland.

Debbie said on Facebook: “Thank you so much to everyone that has taken the time to congratulate me on my win.

“I travelled up to the NEC at 5.00am for the Food & Drink Expo where British Baker held their competition for Britain’s Best Cake 2024.

“The cake I entered into the ‘Occasion Cake’ category was my very popular Cherry and Almond and I decided to recreate the beautiful cake I made for a client a few months ago for their wedding.

“I titled it ‘Garden Party Cake’ as I thought with the flavours, apricot coloured icing and all those sugar flowers, it was perfect for a summer garden party.

“The judges commented that it had a high level of attention to detail and the artistry spoke for itself also praising the Bakewell like combination of flavours which “worked perfectly”

“The competition was for professional bakers from around the country and judged by professional bakers and industry experts. This makes the win even more special knowing that professional bakers not only loved how my cake looked but also loved the taste of it as well.

“The Cherry and Almond has always been very popular, now you can order this cake knowing it’s an award winning flavour

“I used Couture Sugarpaste to cover the cake and Arati Mirji Sugar Florist paste for all the sugar flowers.

In addition to baking, Debbie also offers one-to-one and group cake tutorials.

She has had several cake designs published The Cake Master’s Magazines since 2019 and demonstrated for Saracino at The Cake International Show at the NEC in 2021.
