'He is brilliant': Tim Sherwood seriously impressed by £39m Tottenham player v Burnley today

Tottenham crept over the line this afternoon against Burnley to send Vincent Kompany’s men back into the Championship and Tim Sherwood was impressed with one player.

Having initially gone behind once again, Tottenham rallied as they scored via defenders Pedro Porro and Micky van de Ven to go 2-1 ahead.

Manager Ange Postecoglou once again required a second half upturn in performance level and he got it, as Van de Ven’s finish ensured a big three points in front of the home fans.

Of course, Van de Ven’s goal was the crucial second but it was the opener from Porro and his constant probing forward that caught the eye of the onlooking Tim Sherwood.

Porro’s goal was well-taken but commenting on the full-back in general, Sherwood believes the best is yet to come for the former Sporting Lisbon ace.

Tim Sherwood impressed by Pedro Porro as Tottenham beat Burnley

Speaking about Porro on Premier League Productions, Sherwood insisted fans haven’t seen the best of the Spaniard just yet either.

“The best of Pedro Porro is yet to come. He is brilliant at driving forward like that, and yes the goalkeeper should do better, but it’s a great strike. Love his kiss of the badge too,” Sherwood said.

Pedro Porro has been key for Tottenham

Tottenham splashed out around £39m to sign Porro and it has proven to be a signing well made.

The full-back has been integral for Postecoglou’s way of playing this season and there has even been reports that some inside Spurs feel they’re too reliant on him.

Regardless of that thought process, Porro will remain a key player while ever this manager is in charge and his goal today just showed why he’s so valued.

Full-backs who can get forward like Porro does are highly sought after in the modern game and luckily for Tottenham, they already have one in place.

Right-back, then, is one position that doesn’t need strengthening in the summer.
