Report: What Bruno Guimaraes did straight after the full-time whistle at Newcastle today

Another campaign at home in the Premier League comes to an end for Newcastle United.

While Eddie Howe’s side have been unable to replicate last season’s stunning form at St James’ Park, Newcastle remain one of the best teams on their home patch in the Premier League.

Though drawing with Brighton to leave Chelsea and Manchester United in with a chance of pipping them for the top six was disappointing, things have broadly been pretty positive on Tyneside this season.

Only Tottenham, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool have won more games at home (14) than Newcastle.

The final home game of the season was always going to be a big deal for Bruno Guimaraes, too.

Though there is a suggestion those behind the scenes at the club are confident he will stay, it’s impossible to ignore all the speculation surrounding him right now.

With that in mind, it’s fascinating to see what he did after the full-time whistle. This could feasibly be, after all, the last time he plays at St James’ as a Newcastle player.

What Bruno Guimaraes did after the full-time whistle for Newcastle vs Brighton

According toiNews, Guimaraes was involved in conversation with chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan after the game.

The chairman was in town for the first time since December and is said to have made a “beeline” for the midfielder after the full-time whistle.

They suggest the way Guimaraes was acting did little to indicate this was his final home game in black and white.

Bruno Guimaraes may genuinely be staying at Newcastle

Guimaraes has consistently spoken of just how much he wants to stay, albeit the presence of a release clause in his contract obviously complicates matters.

Still, with the likes of Craig Hope suggesting he believes Guimaraes will stick around, it seems Newcastle fans can be confident.

Let’s have everything crossed all summer…
