Over the past two years it has been looking for the cheapest deal for its customers.

And one of the ways it is looking to help people is to introduce them to green and renewable options.

“It is not always viable for everybody,” said Russell Downing, who heads up the direct selling arm of the firm.

“But it is certainly the way we see the future going in the UK with wind, solar and hydra.

“So, it is where we are trying to point all our customers.”

He added: “It is becoming much more comparable now to brown energy in terms of price so it is a no brainer.”

But there are challenges.

“When we look at things like electric cars, they are great,” he said.

“But we have still have got challenges with the grid and with supplying the energy to charge those.”

He added: “I think hydrogen will be the long-term solution.

“It is coming in leaps and bounds, there is still a long way to go to make it commercially viable but we are seeing strides in the right direction for that so it is very positive.”

Mr Downing advised people look at all the options available to them keeping in mind there is still an energy crisis.

He said: “I’d remind everybody not to bury their head in the sand.

“The energy crisis is still out there but we are back to pre-energy crisis levels at the moment

“So, the energy market is in a really good place.

“Look at what options are out there.”

The company, which now has 40 employees, recently sponsored the Newbury Weekly News Best in Business Awards in the Green Category.

“Green energy is something that is quite close to us,” Mr Downing said.

“It just made sense to do that going forward with the business.

“The process unearthed some local gems that we have got and we wanted to support local businesses.

“The awards are a good way to celebrate that.”
