Wisbech Town up to seventh after eight-wicket victory at Southill Park

Wisbech Town are up to seventh in Division One of the Cambs & Hunts Premier League after an eight-wicket victory at mid-table Southill Park on Saturday.

After winning the toss, the Biggleswade side elected to bat and scored 189-8 from their 50 overs, Gary Freear best with the ball for the visitors, taking 3-33 from 10 overs. Ryan Clark took 2-27 off 10 and Kieran Haynes 2-36 off 10.

In reply, Wisbech reached reached 191-2 from just 36 overs, opener Danny Haynes hitting 59 from 88 balls including seven fours and a six. Opening partner Freear scored 21 from 32 balls and wicket keeper Josh Bowers an undefeated 55 from 66 balls, with six fours.

And Clark hit a quickfire 35 not out from 31 balls, with five fours and a six.

March Town lost at home by six wickets to Castor & Ailsworth in Division Two. After electing to bat, March scored 178 all out from 42.1 overs.

PIck of their batsmen was new overseas recruit Josh Fisher who battered 83 from 75 balls before being clean bowled, including 11 fours and two sixes.

Openers James Hilliard and Tommy Howgego scored 11 and 17 respectively, and Scott Welcher scored 43 from 44 balls, with four fours and a six before the final seven wickets went for 31 runs.

In reply, the visitors looked a little shaky at 38-2 but went on to score 179-4 from 43.2 overs, with a wicket each for Phoenix Nightingale, Fisher and Shae Pooley.

Wisbech Town 2nd top the CCA League Division One after three games following a 35-run win over visiting Longstanton Grasshoppers.

After deciding to bat, the home team scored 229-5 from 45 overs, opener Dom Stannard scoring 97 of them, Sam Albutt 25, Jack Woollard 13, Chris Clark 11, Joe Dunning 24 not out and Brodie Ellis 31.

In reply, Pieter Jacobs took 4-14 from 8.5 overs as Grasshoppers were dismissed for 194 from 43.5 overs. Ellis took 2-19 off six and there was a wicket each for Adam Gardner, Woollard and Clark.

in CCA Division Two Chatteris lost at home to Audley End & Littlebury by 95 runs. After being asked to bat, Audley scored 193-8 from their 45 overs, James Wood the pick of the home bowlers with 3-27 off nine. Anthony Bamford took 2-22 off five, and there was a wicket each for Matthew Hollis and Archie Palmer.

Chatteris were then bowled out for 98 from 33 overs, only Billy Munns with 28, Harley Edmonds with 11 and Palmer with 13 making double figures as they at one stage found themselves at 31-6.

March Town 2nd conceded their game at Elmdon in CCA Division Three and are bottom of the table after two fixtures.

Wimblington made it two wins from two and top CCA Junior Four North after a ten-wicket win over visiting Cottenham 2nds.

After electing to bat, the visitors struggled to 86-9 from 40 overs, Jason Bullman taking 2-19 from eight and a wicket apiece for Leon Walker, Ashley Irvine, Kyle Butler and Paul King, plus three run outs.

In reply, captain Kris Judge hit six fours and five sixes in an unbeaten 64, his opening partner Rick Brown 19 not out.
