Pep Guardiola shares what’s really impressed him about Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has lauded Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur ahead of tomorrow night’s game.

Spurs are set to host City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a game that could have huge consequences in the Premier League title race.

A result for Tottenham would hand their north London rivals Arsenal the advantage over City, while a defeat would see Pep Guardiola’s men head back to the top of the table.

The game could also be crucial for Spurs’ top-four hopes should Aston Villa lose at home to Liverpool this evening.

Postecoglou’s men got back to winning ways on Saturday thanks to a 2-1 victory over Burnley.

It ended a run of four consecutive Premier League defeats and despite a difficult spell for the Aussie boss, Guardiola has been impressed with his work at Hotspur Way this season.

Guardiola lauds Postecoglou’s Tottenham

Speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow night’s clash in north London, Guardiola shared what’s impressed him about Spurs this term.

“I have huge respect for Ange and his team since the day one arrived and always in the past,” the City boss said. “I know how difficult it will be, we know it. Here we’ve played really good but could not beat them and they make incredible process, they are so quick in the transition and they attack the channels unbelievably.

“They are so intense in the high pressing, they press the keeper. They are so incredibly aggressive and during 95 minutes you have to be ready to read the game in the right moment.”

City’s record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Guardiola’s men have comfortably been the best side in Europe over the past few years but have struggled at Spurs.

Since the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium opened its doors in 2019, City have won just once – which came earlier this season in the FA Cup fourth round.

Beforehand, the Citizens had lost in all six visits to Spurs’ stadium and had failed to score a single goal.

It looks set to be an interesting evening at Tottenham tomorrow, with plenty of Spurs supporters expected to have mixed feelings on the game.

Should Postecoglou’s men pull off a surprise win, or even a draw, it could hand Arsenal the title provided they beat Everton on the final day.
