Tottenham fans disagree with what they’ve just heard Ange Postecoglou say ahead of Manchester City game

Tottenham Hotspur fans have now been reacting to what they have now heard their manager Ange Postecoglou say.

Three points were added to the board on Saturday when Vincent Kompany’s Burnley travelled to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou‘s men did it the hard way as they have done for the majority of the campaign and had to rely on two defenders to find the back of the net.

But it is a quick turnaround for Tottenham who still have two games remaining in their Premier League campaign.

And it is a game which the entire league will have their eyes on with Spurs hosting a Manchester City side who are two wins away from winning the league.

However, there is the notion that some Spurs fans would be happy to see their side lose with anything less than three points for City giving Arsenal a free run at the title.

Speaking ahead of the game on Tuesday, Postecoglou has issued his thoughts on the suggestion that fans will be cheering against their own side.

What Ange Postecoglou said about the Tottenham fans ahead of Tuesday

Monday night will provide Tottenham with a much clearer insight as to where they can finish this season in the league.

Aston Villa host Liverpool and three points would confirm their spot in fourth place ahead of the weekend.

If Spurs only have fifth place to finish for – with the bottom side to play on the weekend – it has to be questioned whether the players will take their foot off the pedal.

Speaking ahead of the game from Hotspur Way, Postecoglou has slammed the idea Spurs fans will want to see anything other than a Tottenham win.

“My role is to bring success to this football club and whatever proportion, whether it’s his two mates or 99% of people you know, I know 100% of Spurs supporters want us to win, be successful and win trophies,” he said.

“That is without a shadow of a doubt and us winning tomorrow night will help us bring joy to 100% of Spurs supporters.”

However, these comments have not gone down particularly well among some Spurs fans on social media with a number taking to X to share their thoughts.

One Tottenham fan said, ‘Come on Ange you can’t be this disconnected’. Whilst another chipped in by saying, ‘Oh buddy I hate to break it to you’.

Another fan took his comments a lot more seriously by saying, ‘He doesn’t get it does he? Makes a lot of sense how we failed to beat Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham this season’. With one other fan stating, ‘Think he will be in for quite a shock’.

It seems a lot of fans were not in agreement with the 58-year-old as another said, ‘Should we tell him?’ whilst another Spurs fan simply said, ‘BLUE MOON’.

Ange Postecoglou still expects Tottenham fans to create big atmosphere

Although it does not seem likely going off some of the replies on social media to his comments, the Australian has set his stall out in his press conference.

Of course, Postecoglou was never going to come out and say to the media and say that he is looking to see his side give up three points on Tuesday.

But he has certainly issued a stern message out to the Tottenham fans for what he is expecting in their final game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“What atmosphere? So you think the majority of our fans will want us to not win tomorrow night? I don’t see it that way,” he said.

“I think the majority of our fans will create the atmosphere they always create at our home games. Irrespective, we have a game of football to win and that is what we are going to try to do.”
