Tottenham ‘keeping close tabs’ on £10m wonderkid as Manchester City prepare move

Tottenham Hotspur have focused on signing young players in recent transfer windows and may have some potential gems lined up for the summer.

Tottenham have been in poor form of late but are really trying to build something for the long-term under Ange Postecoglou.

That means signings with real potential are being landed with a view to building a strong Tottenham side for years to come.

First-team additions such as Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin and Brennan Johnson certainly fit the mould of not being the finished product but could become stars.

Tottenham also landed even younger players with defender Ashley Phillips joining from Blackburn Rovers and Luka Vuskovic agreeing to join from Hajduk Split.

Vuskovic won’t arrive until 2025 but Tottenham will have a wonderkid coming in this summer with Lucas Bergvall joining from Djurgarden.

That is a hugely exciting move but Tottenham may have another top talent in mind for a summer move.

Tottenham Hotspur want Douglas Lukjanciks

Johan Lange and Postecoglou will be looking for exciting prospects and a young goalkeeper is on the radar.

The Sun report that Tottenham are ‘keeping close tabs’ on Everton goalkeeper Douglas Lukjanciks.

The report claims that Manchester City are ready to make a move for teenager Lukjanciks in the hope of winning the race for his signature.

City would allegedly be ready to pay around £10million for Lukjanciks, a staggering fee for a 16-year-old.

Perhaps that is a sign of his potential though, with City keen to fend off competition by even sending a young player to Everton in exchange.

It’s noted that Tottenham are keen too whilst Aston Villa and Marseille are interested as well, with Bayer Leverkusen even lurking.

Who is Everton talent Lukjanciks?

Lukjanciks is only 16 and has made four appearances in the Under-18 Premier League this season.

The teenager has also picked up two caps for England at under-17 level, but could actually play for Latvia in the future.

Lukjanciks has dual nationality but is seemingly expected to stick with England moving forward.

It’s claimed that Everton view Lukjanciks as their future number one goalkeeper, but turning down £10million for him would be a surprise given their need to sell players.

Tottenham may well like Lukjanciks but splashing £10million on a 16-year-old sounds like something Spurs wouldn’t really prioritise.

A move to City therefore seems more likely, but Tottenham will be in the market for a young goalkeeper this summer in order to bring through a stopper behind Luca Gunter in the academy system.
