School 8 in Jersey City was briefly evacuated Monday morning after a student set a bathroom garbage can on fire, Jersey City officials said.
The student who set the fire was identified and apprehended, Jersey City spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said.
Jersey City firefighters responded to the Franklin Street elementary school at 9 a.m. and contained the fire to the garbage container. The school was safely evacuated for a short time. No injuries were reported.
