Ian Wright 'can't see' how one Arsenal star will regain Arteta trust due to one factor

Ian Wright has suggested that one of Arsenal’s star players might not be able to regain Mikel Arteta’s trust again due to one factor.

The Gunners have undergone a lot of changes throughout the season from David Raya replacing Aaron Ramsdale between the sticks to four players taking the reigns at left-back at various points this campaign.

Such evolution has been key to Arsenal’s success with the north London side heading into the final day of the Premier League season with a chance of winning the title depending on if results go their way.

Yet club legend Wright has now suggested that on Arsenal star could soon fall out of favour with Arteta.

Wright urges Gabriel Martinelli to adapt to save his Arsenal career

Speaking on Wrighty’s House, the pundit suggested that Gabriel Martinelli faces falling completely out favour with Arteta if he can’t adapt aspects to his game to make him considered by the Basque coach as a starter for next season.

Wright said when asked what Martinelli needs to do to get back into the Arsenal starting XI: “With Martinelli, I think that we know what Martinelli is about in respect of the pace in his finishing.

“But I believe he may need now to start thinking about what more can I add to the game, because if it is not going to happen for me on the left, he can use me on the left, can I do more to make sure to I can maybe be a centre-forward.

“I think there is something to be said in respect of him upskilling again, otherwise with Mikel and the way Mikel plays, the control, you need to bring something else because the way Trossard is playing, if he continues in that manner, I can’t see how Martinelli will get him out unless he does something else.”

Martinelli has to push himself if he wants a future at Arsenal

Martinelli’s drop off this season has been a surprise for many given how prolific the winger was last season, with the Brazilian international dropping to the bench in recent weeks in favour of Leandro Trossard.

And next season, Martinelli has to push himself if he wants to have a future at Arsenal, a club where the winger is loved and where the forward is rated very highly by supporters based off historical form.

There’s no denying that Martinelli has the talent to become a world-class goalscorer, and the 22-year-old needs to apply himself next season better if he is to have a future at Arsenal under Arteta.
