Tottenham now have six-man striker shortlist lined up to upgrade Richarlison this summer

Tottenham Hotspur now have six strikers on their summer shortlist to potentially upgrade Richarlison.

The 2023/24 campaign is now just two games away from ending for Tottenham with games against Manchester City and then Sheffield United to play.

Fourth spot is still to play for following Aston Villa’s draw on Monday night – albeit anything other than a win on Tuesday would change that.

Regardless of what European competition Spurs will be playing next season, Ange Postecoglou is expecting change at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the summer.

The 58-year-old has already made several signings since arriving at Hotspur Way last summer and more comings and going are set to follow.

One player who The Spurs News have been informed could leave this summer is Richarlison with interest coming in from Saudi Arabia.

And it has now been claimed that the Lilywhites have put together a six-man shortlist of potential upgrades for the Brazilian.

What strikers do Tottenham like ahead of the summer transfer window

Losing Harry Kane over the summer to Bayern Munich was always going to cause issues for the Lilywhites.

For the most part, Spurs have dealt fairly well with the loss of Kane considering they did not buy a direct replacement in the summer.

However, Richarlison has struggled considerably through injuries and Heung-min Son has had to take on a lot of the responsibility.

The South Korean is arguably playing out of position when he’s played through the middle and Richarlison’s injury issues is now expected to have Spurs searching for a new striker this summer.

According to club insider Paul O Keefe, Spurs have six strikers in mind as they go into this summer’s transfer window.

  • Santiago Gimenez
  • Ivan Toney
  • Dominic Solanke
  • Serhou Guirassy
  • Lois Openda
  • Viktor Gyokeres

Spurs are in need of a reliable number nine who can come in and provide a consistent stream of goals without the worry of him being injured regularly.

Of course, that is easier said than done, but Daniel Levy and co have now had almost 12 months since Kane’s exit to decide on who could replace him.

How Tottenham’s striker targets compare over this season

Finding a successor to a player of Kane’s ability was always going to be an extremely difficult task for Tottenham.

However, they did not rush into it and have instead given themselves a full season to assess their options.

With a six-man list now compiled, fans will hope these six players have been looked at in depth over the 2023/24 campaign.

Here is how the six have fared over the season across all competitions.

There is a lot more to take in than just how many goals they have scored with serious competition reportedly in for the likes of Gyokeres which would potentially see a drawn out transfer saga.

And then there is, of course, the question of whether Spurs would prefer a striker who already knows the Premier League.

Replacing Kane is never going to happen, but Spurs need to get as close as they can if they want to reach Postecoglou’s goal of battling for the title next season.
