Newark cyclist Isabel Darvill, racing for Doltcini-O’Shea Women’s Continental Cycling Team, competes in the Rapha Lincoln Grand Prix Women’s Race

Newark cyclist Isabel Darvill scored an impressive 14th place in the prestigious Rapha Lincoln Grand Prix Women’s Race on Sunday morning.

Racing for the UCI Registered Doltcini-O’Shea Women’s Continental Cycling Team against the cream of the UK’s female riders, Darvill stayed near the front in a race that was full gas throughout in sunny conditions with a slight wind.

The route included a climb of the 20% gradient and the cobbled Michaelgate eight times in the 64-mile race.

Winner was Kate Richardson, of the Lifeplus-Wahoo Team, with Darvill just 35 seconds behind her.

In total, 70 riders completed the brutal course.

Darvill now sits fourth in the Elite Women’s rankings and 11th in the National Road Series standings.

Her next race is the LondonRide Classic on May 28, which will be televised.

Also at the weekend, Jack Levick, of the Rose Race Team, finished third in the Leo 30 Mile Time Trial in Cambridgeshire on Saturday in a time of 1 hour 3 minutes 53 seconds, averaging 28.176mph.
