'So quick': Ben Foster says he's blown away by 'powerful' Chelsea player whenever he's watched him live

Ben Foster has named the Chelsea player who’s blown him away whenever he’s watched him live.

Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino has been working with a young squad this season that’s been inconsistent and hard to predict, but there’s still some top-quality players amid the drama.

It’s been clear in recent weeks that Chelsea are starting to click into gear, climbing up to seventh in the Premier League table after three wins on the spin. Incidentally, they round up the campaign this week with games versus Brighton and Bournemouth, with European qualification still very much on the cards.

Ben Foster mesmerised by Chelsea player

Ben Foster has raved about the incredible quality of Chelsea’s Reece James. In particular, he’s said that the 24-year-old right-back is a phenomenon when you’re watching him live.

In his first appearance since December because of injury, James returned on Saturday to make a cameo appearance off the bench and assist the winning goal in a 3-2 league victory over Nottingham Forest.

Foster said via his YouTube channel: “Reece James, right, if he is fit and is good to go, I have watched him play live a couple of times, and honestly, he is one of the best sort of right-back defenders you will ever see. I promise you, you will ever see. Just everything looks under control, He is so quick, powerful.”

Reece James ranks high in Chelsea statistic

If you’ve watched James’ Chelsea career, you’ll know he’s as important to the side going forward as he is defensively. Hopefully, the Blues full-back and club captain can finally beat the poor injury record that has plagued his career in recent years.

In data recorded by BBC, James scores well in the squad when looking at chances created per 90 minutes this season. He’s only played 10 matches in all competitions this term, so The Chelsea Chronicle suggests the defender would be higher with regular minutes and a bit of momentum.
