Sullivan confidant claims West Ham have given Lopetegui specific remit that Hammers fans will love

West Ham United owners have given incoming manager Julen Lopetegui one specific remit it seems.

Julen Lopetegui is all set to replace David Moyes as the new West Ham manager, and he is allegedly already lining up six new signings.

Big things are expected of the 57-year-old Spaniard, with the Hammers board demanding a bare minimum of an eighth placed finish.

However, there is one very specific remit that has been given to Lopetegui by the West Ham board.

With so many new players needed this summer, the Hammers manager may have to think outside the box due to PSR regulations being enforced.

Lopetegui will have a decent budget, but not lavish funds like those in charge of the top six teams will have at their disposal.

And it seems like he’s open to doing something that will definitely save the club a serious amount of cash…

West Ham have given Julen Lopetegui a specific remit

The former Wolves boss faces an extremely tough challenge ahead of him at West Ham.

The squad left behind by Moyes is in need of a big overhaul, and real change certainly won’t happen overnight.

Now, Lopetegui has been given direct instructions from the club’s owners to do something very specific when he takes over at the London Stadium.

According to Claret and Hugh, Lopetegui has been given the remit of giving youth a chance next season, and the Spaniard is very open to allowing the top youth-team players the chance to show him what they’ve got.

However, the report clearly states that we probably won’t see the best of the current crop of talented youngsters until the 2025/26 season at the earliest.

I would concur with that.

The likes of Earthy, Divin Mubama, Freddie Potts, Gideon Kodua, Ollie Scarles and Lewis Orford need to be given regular chances with the first-team this season, certainly in the cup competitions.

Meanwhile, others like Callum Marshall, Patrick Kelly and Kaelan Casey are probably in need of loan moves to the Championship or even League One.

If Julen Lopetegui gives chances to a handful of West Ham youngsters next season, the Hammers fans will absolutely love him for it.

Whether any of them go on to make it at the very highest level in the long-term remains to be seen though.
