‘Pretty sure’: Paul Merson has now shared his prediction for Man City vs Tottenham Hotspur

Paul Merson has now shared his prediction for Manchester City’s big Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur.

After comfortably beating Fulham 4-0 at Craven Cottage last weekend, the Blues are in the capital again this evening for a crucial game against Spurs, their penultimate match of the Premier League campaign.

With City still one point behind Arsenal at the top of the table, the Manchester club will have to win tonight’s game to give themselves a chance of winning the league on the final day of the season, where they’ll be facing West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium.

Looking ahead to tonight’s big game in North London, one pundit and former Arsenal star, has shared his views on the game and the situation surrounding it in regards to the title race.

In his latest column for Sportskeeda where he previewed and predicted the scores for the handful of midweek Premier League games before the final day of the season on Sunday, Merson had this to say about City’s match against Spurs.

He said: “I can’t see anything but a Man City win. I know Ange Postecoglou has said they want to win this game, but he’s obviously not going to come out and say the last thing he needs is for Arsenal to win the Premier League!

“There will be Tottenham fans with ‘Manchester Hotspur’ flags and if Spurs somehow end up winning, you wouldn’t want to be the player who ends up scoring the winning goal!

“If Man City go ahead, I’m pretty sure Spurs fans will be singing ‘Are you watching Arsenal?’ While they are two or three-nil down.

“As someone who is rooting for Arsenal in the Premier League, I’d rather Manchester City face Burnley away than Tottenham this weekend.

“Man City have struggled in this fixture in recent years, but Harry Kane used to play for Tottenham at the time.

“At the moment, the defending champions are just breezing past teams and that must be so demoralising for Arsenal, who have done incredibly well to take the title race to the last day.

“Last week, Tottenham beat Burnley but the Clarets were slicing through them like a knife through butter, so I can’t see anything but a Manchester City win.”

Man City must beat Spurs

Having won their seven previous league games, City head into this game in hot form. Whereas Spurs have lost three of their four last league matches, having to come from behind against Burnley to win 2-1 last weekend.

With that in mind, it’s understandable why Merson thinks City will do something they haven’t done before tonight and win a Premier League game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In our view, this is another must-win match for the Citizens if they want to become the first side to win four Premier League titles in a row.
