Report: Man United set to rival Newcastle United for player Pep Guardiola said is 'quality'

Manchester United are set to rival Newcastle United for highly-rated player this summer, according to a recent report.

United have been hit by a number of injuries to their defence this term, thus plaguing their progress under Erik ten Hag.

After a productive first season under the Dutchman, his side have gone backwards and now his job is under huge scrutiny.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has just been mooted as his potential successor and Gareth Southgate is also a repeated link.

Anyhow, whoever is in the post this summer, they’ll need to be heavily backed in the transfer market and with that said, United have just been linked with a defender.

Manchester United eye Tosin Adarabioyo

Tosin Adarabioyo is set to depart Fulham at the end of the season and Newcastle United have been heavily linked with signing him on a free transfer.

Though, it has just emerged that United are set to swoop in late and rival The Magpies for his signature, as they seek to add defensive depth, according to Sports Lens.

The report further claims that The Red Devils are keen to bring his Premier League experience to their ranks and have an ‘early understanding’ of his personal demands.

Adarabioyo is also attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur, so competition is rife.

Manchester United may have to offer regular football

With Newcastle and Spurs both keen on signing him, United may struggle to land his signature if they can’t offer regular football.

At Newcastle, he would be an integral part of Eddie Howe’s starting 11 and perhaps he’d even be a regular at Spurs but it’s understood that the Old Trafford outfit are viewing him as added cover.

So with that said, at this stage, a move to Newcastle seems more likely for Adarabioyo, who Pep Guardiola said is ‘quality’ during his time at Manchester City.
