'I have no words': Rodri says one Man City player genuinely 'saved' them in their 2-0 win against Tottenham

Rodri claimed that one of his Manchester City teammates “saved” his side during their 2-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur.

The task was straightforward for Manchester City: win or risk losing the Premier League title to Arsenal and they delivered.

It was far from a simple task for Pep Guardiola’s men, with Dejan Kulusevski delivering on his promise that Spurs would give City a game.

Rodri hails Man City player who “saved” them against Tottenham

In the first half, the game was quite even, with Tottenham seeming determined to give themselves a chance to qualify for the Champions League.

However, the hosts’ resolve was broken in the 51 minute by Erling Haaland, who scored the opener.

In the 91 minute, it was the £51 million man once again, who converted from the penalty spot to seal the win for the visitors.

But after Manchester City defeated Tottenham, Rodri reserved special praise for Stefan Ortega.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Rodri said: “Stefan [Ortega] was simply incredible. Outstanding three saves, I have no words.”

“Stefan, he saved us.”

The Stefan Ortega masterclass was special

In our view, Manchester City midfielder Rodri is justified in hailing Stefan Ortega for his heroics against Tottenham.

Coming on for the injured Ederson in the 69 minute must not have been easy for the German in a game with such high stakes.

But Ortega certainly made it look like child’s play, making three massive saves to keep City in the game.

The 30-year-old’s standout save emerged late into the game when Son Heung-min was clean through on goal.

But Ortega’s outstretched foot denied the Spurs captain from equalising.

The Manchester City number two also kept Dejan Kulusevski out with an outstanding near-post stop.

Rodri and his Manchester City teammates would perhaps feel grateful that Stefan Ortega was at his brilliant best against Tottenham.
