'Unbelievable': Rodri left absolutely blown away by £55m Man City player in 2-0 victory against Tottenham

Rodri hailed one of his Manchester City teammates after his side beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 on Tuesday night.

The Spaniard also singled Stefan Ortega out for praise for his remarkable display off the bench.

In what was a hard-fought win for Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they got the job done like potential champions do, as Arsenal’s chances of winning the title now seem slim.

Rodri praises “unbelievable” Man City player in Tottenham victory

Considering the gulf in class between City and Spurs, some might have considered the game as a mismatch but that was simply not the case.

However, teams of the Sky Blues’ calibre find a way to win by any means necessary.

That was the story of City’s display, which was similar to their unforgettable 1-0 win against Leicester City in 2019.

Manchester City anchor Rodri lauded Jeremy Doku for his bright cameo against Tottenham.

In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, Rodri said: “[Jeremy] Doku was unbelievable, all the players that came in was exceptional. This talks about the team.”

Pep Guardiola’s substitutions did the trick for the visitors on an important night of football for them.

Jeremy Doku continues to impact games off the bench

In our view, it is hard to disagree with Rodri as Jeremy Doku proved decisive for Manchester City against Tottenham.

The £55.5 million man won the penalty for Erling Haaland to score, getting on the end of a sumptuous pass from Phil Foden.

Pedro Porro had the difficult task of stopping the Belgian in his tracks.

But Doku showcased once again why he is proving to be an outstanding impact substitute for this City side.

The youngster took two touches before baiting Porro to make a challenge and won the penalty.

From the moment came on, Jeremy Doku provided a much-needed spark to his Manchester City side, constantly taking on his man and creating two goalscoring chances for himself.

The Spurs defenders seemed to have no plans to stop the former Rennes speedster, who was ghosting past them for fun and even towards the end of the game, he nearly provided an assist after a sensational run.

Doku’s fearlessness shone through on a night when big characters had to step up.

Rodri must be proud of Jeremy Doku for how ready he was to make an impact for Manchester City against Tottenham.
