Goalkeeper with more clean sheets than Matz Sels could move to the PL soon after rejecting Forest - Romano

A goalkeeper who rejected Nottingham Forest in January could now be on the move to the Premier League during the summer transfer window.

Forest have had a problematic campaign when it comes to picking their custodian.

Matt Turner began the campaign as the number one but he lost his place to Odysseas Vlachodimos in November.

A run of four defeats in five saw Vlachodimos dropped and Nuno Espirito Santo stuck with Turner when he arrived at Forest.

The Reds tried to sign a number of goalkeepers in January – including David de Gea – and eventually landed Matz Sels.

He’s been the number one since he arrived and he’s looked like a safe pair of hands between the posts for Forest.

One man who rejected Forest was Peter Gulacsi and he could now be on the move this summer.

Peter Gulacsi could move to Premier League after rejecting Forest

According to Fabrizio Romano, RB Leipzig stopper Gulacsi is once again attracting interest from Premier League clubs.

It’s not clear at this stage who is actually keen to sign the Bundesliga performer but clubs will come forward before next season.

Gulacsi only has a year to run on his contract and it would appear that Leipzig won’t be offering him any kind of extension.

With that in mind, they’re set to cash in on the player who joined the club from Salzburg in 2015.

Forest wanted Gulacsi to come to the City Ground in January but the player was keen to fight for his place in Germany instead.

Forest must address goalkeeper situation this summer

This has become a bit of a joke this season and Forest have to make some changes in the transfer window.

Vlachodimos has been linked with a move to Augsburg and as the third choice he will surely be moving on.

There is also an argument that Turner could leave too and at 29 he might now want regular first-team football.

Sels has been good for the Reds, with Squawaka claiming that he’s made two more saves than Gulacsi with 35 in 15 appearances.

The same statistics do showcase that Gulacsi has made a couple more clean sheets than Sels this season – but that is probably down to the better quality ahead of him.

Forest’s number one is 32-years-old and the last thing that Forest need is another goalkeeper who is in that age bracket.

Forest might well need to sign a goalkeeper this summer but if they do it has to be someone approaching or in their prime.

Sels is more than capable as the number one and landing the 34-year-old Gulacsi wouldn’t make a deal of sense.
