'My information': Newcastle United's owners now want to sell 'tricky' player this summer - journalist

Newcastle United fans are debating who should stay and who should go this summer, but it seems as though the owners have already made their mind up about one player.

It is going to be a challenging summer for Newcastle United, one in which they need to move some players on whilst also fending off interest in their biggest stars.

Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak are attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, but Newcastle’s plan is to keep them at St James’ Park. That is the correct call, even if the club could receive more than £200million to sell both of them. That would be great for business, but it would tear apart Eddie Howe’s team.

But while those players need to stay, the future of others is much more uncertain.

Journalist shares what Newcastle United plan to do with Callum Wilson

Newcastle United need to raise some cash by selling players, and Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Miguel Almiron is likely to leave the club this summer.

That is probably the correct decision, and a new update from Craig Hope suggests that the same fate could be coming Callum Wilson‘s way.

Hope has been speaking about Wilson on his YouTube channel, and shared what the Toon hierarchy intends to do with the 32-year-old.

“It has long been my information now that Callum Wilson will move on this summer,” he said.

“One year left on his contract, 32-years-old, and because of those issues with selection. The hierarchy have taken the view that the time has come, while there is still value in the player, while they may get £5million to £10million. There has been talk of Saudi Arabia, a move abroad.

“I think that makes sense for the club. I can see why the club are looking at this.”

Eddie Howe will not like owners’ stance over Callum Wilson

Hope believes that the Newcastle United owners want to sell Wilson this summer, while Eddie Howe has made it clear that he would be against any such deal.

The Toon boss has spoke a lot about Wilson’s future as of late, following the striker’s return from a pectoral injury. Howe has admitted that he wants Wilson to stay at St James’ Park, and has told the owners that it will cost a lot of money to replace him if they do move him on.

That is true, but a Toon departure for Wilson also makes a lot of sense. As Hope says, he is 32 and going into the final year of his contract. This is the last chance for Newcastle to get some money for him, which is vital in the era of profit and sustainability.

On top of that, Wilson cannot be relied on to stay fit. He was absent again on Saturday, meaning he has now missed 24 games this season. That puts pressure on Alexander Isak to stay fit, which has led to him suffering from his own issues this season.

Newcastle have a star in Isak, and they need someone who can support him. Wilson has the talent to do just that, as he has shown in recent weeks. He was outstanding against Burnley, with Chris Sutton describing him as a ‘tricky’ player for defenders to handle.

While that is the case, he is not available enough. That will be the argument that the Newcastle owners present to Howe, as they aim to convince him that selling Wilson is the right thing to do. Regardless, it sounds like the hierarchy’s minds are already made up.
