'Completely the opposite': Pep Guardiola shares what he noticed about Tottenham in the first minute of the game

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed what he observed about Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the game.

Many people viewed the clash on Tuesday night as the Premier League title decider.

Arsenal fans, ironically, were desperate for Spurs to get a result, while many Tottenham supporters wanted their own side to lose just to crush the Gunners’ dreams of winning the title.

Guardiola has shared what he noticed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola makes claim about Tottenham’s performance from the first minute

There was a lot of talk about how Tottenham will approach the game against Manchester City.

It was pretty clear that anything but a win for Pep Guardiola‘s side would put Arsenal in the driving seat to win the Premier League title this season.

Many Spurs supporters publicly claimed that they would much rather see their side miss out on Champions League qualification than help their fierce North London rivals lift the Premier League.

However, Ange Postecoglou made it clear before the game that he had no interest in bragging rights and wanted to win the game to help Tottenham be in a better position.

Guardiola has now had his say on what happened at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Manchester City boss revealed he heard suggestions from some fans that Spurs will underperform on purpose to lose the game. However, from the very first minute, he noticed the complete opposite.

Guardiola claimed that he saw a Tottenham side who wanted to win the game right from the start.

He said in his press conference, as relayed on Beanyman Sports: “I saw from the minute one that the people suspect ‘No, I’m not going to win, we don’t want to give the title to Arsenal’, but it was completely the opposite.

“They (Tottenham) were there because they were playing for the Champions League qualification because Aston Villa have not an easy game against Crystal Palace next Sunday.”

Ange Postecoglou showed his class after defeat to Manchester City

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou was furious after the game on Tuesday night.

Losing the way they did was definitely a factor, but it was clear to see that he was not happy with the way Spurs fans behaved in the stadium.

Yes, it’s understandable why Tottenham fans enjoyed Arsenal’s misery, but Postecoglou is trying to build a culture where Spurs supporters need to focus on their side winning and nothing else.

The Australian showed his class by sticking to his guns after the game, even though he knew his comments would annoy some of his side’s supporters.

“I think the last 48 hours has revealed to me that the foundations are fairly fragile mate. That’s just what I think,” he said, as per Football London:

“I just think the last 48 hours have revealed a fair bit to me. That’s alright. It just means I’ve got to go back to the drawing board with some things. Outside, inside, everywhere. It’s been an interesting exercise.”

That shows that he is the right man for the job, and if Tottenham stick by him, they could see success come their way in the very near future.
