Liverpool keen on signing forward voted the best in his league for just £35m this summer

Liverpool are beginning to draw up plans for their first summer transfer window under Arne Slot.

Although Slot is still yet to be officially announced as Liverpool’s next manager, his appointment as Jurgen Klopp’s successor is an open secret.

Claims have already been made about what Slot – and more importantly Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards – will be targeting in the market. A new centre-back appears to be the most pressing issue.

As well as bolstering the defence though, Liverpool will also reportedly look at bringing in a new wide forward.

Plenty of names have already been put forward with this in mind. Mohamed Amoura of Union Saint-Gilloise is the latest to have been mentioned. And according to reports on Wednesday, Liverpool are also looking at an option in the Championship.

Liverpool happy with Crysencio Summerville price-tag

Exactly what profile of forward Liverpool are looking for may well depend on who leaves the club this summer.

If Mohamed Salah goes, the Reds need a right-sider. If it’s Luis Diaz, then a left winger should be the order of the day.

Of course, there is still a chance that neither Salah nor Diaz exits, in which case we’d suggest a left winger might be more necessary.

In that sense, Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville may fit the bill. TeamTALK report that Liverpool scouts ‘appreciate’ what they’ve seen from Summerville, with the 22-year-old said to have been added to the Reds’ list of transfer targets.

From Leeds’ point of view, they’re said to value Summerville ‘highly.’ A price-tag of between £30m and £40m has reportedly been put on the Championship’s Player of the Season, with it claimed that somewhere in the middle may eventually land him.

For that kind of price, Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa are all said to be ‘keen’ on Summerville. The player himself is reportedly very happy at Leeds, although if the Whites don’t achieve promotion they supposedly could look to cash in.

How likely are Leeds to get promoted

The strong suggestion here seems to be that if Leeds gain promotion to the Premier League, then Summerville is much more likely to stay.

As a result, Liverpool supporters may find themselves cheering on Norwich this week.

The Canaries are facing Leeds in the play-off semi-final. Having drawn 0-0 at Carrow Road on Sunday, the return leg in West Yorkshire takes place on Thursday.

With home advantage Leeds will be favourites. Should they navigate past Norwich, they’d then go on to face either West Brom or Southampton in a Wembley shoot-out.

As they finished third with 90 points, Leeds should be favourites in the play-offs. But anything can happen. Liverpool fans may be wise to keep across Thursday’s big match at Elland Road. It could end up determining their next attacking addition.
