Three players Liverpool could sign from Red Bull Salzburg after Pep Lijnders appointment

Pep Lijnders is about to become Red Bull Salzburg’s next manager and there are three players Liverpool could look to sign from him.

When Pep Lijnders made his decision to leave Liverpool, it was always going to be clear that he was going to be moving on as a head coach of another team.

Lijnders was seen by many to be a potential heir to Jurgen Klopp’s throne, but even he himself would have recognised he wasn’t ready for that leap just yet.

Instead, he will be moving to Red Bull Salzburg this summer where he has been announced as the club’s next manager.

This is a great appointment and one that further solidifies the close ties between Liverpool and the Red Bull clubs.

Why Oscar Gloukh will be on Liverpool’s transfer radar

Lijnders’ appointment means Liverpool could look to continue to buy Salzburg players. Over the last few years the Reds signed the likes of Sadio Mane, Naby Keita, Takumi Minamino and Dominik Szoboszlai – who were all developed at Salzburg.

Rousing the Kop has already written about one obvious candidate in Karim Konate, who Liverpool could now sing but there are others worth keeping an eye on as well.

One of them is Oscar Gloukh – an exciting creative midfielder who has 25 goal contributions in 39 matches in all competitions for Salzburg this season.

Gloukh is a typical number ten who would be a good fit in Arne Slot’s system. He’s only turned 20-years-old earlier this year and would be a smart buy for the Reds.

Why Daouda Guindo and and Gaossou Diakite could also be on Liverpool’s radar

The two other players worth keeping an eye on at Salzburg in the future are Gaossou Diakite and Daouda Guindo.

Diakite has only just turned 18-years-old and immediately joined Salzburg’s ranks upon his birthday earlier this year. He’s a speedy attacker who can play as a number nine and as a winger.

Already he has five goal contributions in just 417 minutes for Salzburg’s second team Liefering this season.

Guindo on the other hand, is a left-back, who has been really promising this season. He’s got an excellent crossing ability and could be a good fit for Liverpool as a back-up choice.
