Ukrainian choir set to celebrate spring at Cambridge church concert

A concert of Ukrainian song to celebrate spring, performed by Malva Voice for Ukraine, will take place at St Andrew’s Street Baptist Church on Saturday (18 May) from 7pm.

Malva Voice for Ukraine is a community group based in Cambridge, composed of women who left Ukraine in April 2022 to escape the war, along with Ukrainian women who were already integrated into the Cambridge community.

Malva, which means “mallow” or “hollyhock” in Ukrainian, is a traditional flowers in Ukraine, as well as a beloved summer plant for many people in the UK.

“We develop, maintain and promote public interest and appreciation of music of Ukraine in all its aspects, as well as nurture and promote Ukrainian culture and traditions, and support engagement and inclusion for Ukrainians in the UK society through events or other charitable activities,” says the group.
