‘Amazing’: Gabby Agbonlahor makes Celtic admission after Parkhead title win

Celtic’s title win last night guarantees Champions League group-stage football for the third season in a row.

Admittedly, the Parkhead club haven’t fared too well in the competition over the past few seasons and Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to put that right next time around.

The Celtic boss returned to Parkhead with the objective of improving our fortunes in Europe and whilst winning the Champions League is way beyond the Bhoys, the fans expect the team to at least compete in Europe’s top competition.

So the Celtic fans have a lot to look forward to next season. And so does former Aston Villa man, Gabby Agbonlanor.

Agbonlahor wants Celtic vs Aston Villa in Champions League

The talkSPORT pundit was speaking about his club making an appearance in the Champions League when he admitted that a trip to Glasgow is one that he ‘would like’.

Agbonlahor said [talkSPORT], “I’d fancy Inter Milan away. Always wanted to go to the San Siro. Inter Milan would be an outstanding one.

“Barcelona, Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid. That’s on the bucket list.

“Also, Celtic away. That’s what I would like. I’ve never been to a game at Celtic. But Villa away to Celtic in the Champions League.

“What an amazing night that would be.”

Celtic have never faced the English Premier League side in a meaningful game. The only time the two sides have met each other was in a friendly back in 1986.

A Brian McClair goal sealed a 1-0 Parkhead win as the likes of Paul McStay, Roy Aitken and Tommy Burns ensured Villa headed back to Birmingham defeated.

And Agbonlahor is correct. If Celtic did face Villa in the Champions League, the atmosphere at Parkhead would be electric.

Celtic fans love nothing more than welcoming, and beating, Premier League teams in Europe as it helps shut up the media narrative that they hold about the quality of our league.
