A shocking statistic: Table shows how badly VAR has affected Wolves since its introduction

A statistic has been released showing how many decisions have gone against Wolves since VAR’s inception in the Premier League.

Big news broke on Wednesday night. After five years of VAR in the Premier League, the system might finally be scrapped for the 2024/25 season.

This has been tabled by Wolves with the top tier clubs set to vote on the proposal to scrap VAR.

The Molineux side has seen multiple terrible decisions go against them for many years. However, in the current campaign, it is arguably at its worst.

Wolves have lost multiple points due to mistakes by VAR which could have proved to be extremely costly.

Despite the saying, ‘the decisions even themselves out’, one statistic now shows that the Old Gold have far more decisions go against them than any other team in the division.

Since VAR was introduced into the Premier League in the 2019/20 season, Wolves have seemingly had the majority of decisions go against them.

Multiple fans can recollect countless bizarre decisions that have gone against the Old Gold. Yet, it is rare to see any calls go for Wolves. Now, a table has been created proving the fan’s worst fears correct.

Since its introduction, Wolves have had far more decisions go against them thanks to VAR than anyone else.

According to ESPN’s Dale Johnson, Wolves have a net score of -17 when analysising the total decisions for and against made by VAR in its five-year stay in the Premier League.

Out of the 13 teams who have been in the Premier League since the introduction of the video assistant, this puts the Molineux side bottom.

Worse yet, Wolves aren’t just bottom but they are comfortably in this position. Arsenal are next in the table with a -7 net score. Out of the 13 teams in the table, only four have a negative net score.

This table is based on every decision VAR has made in the Premier League since its inception.

Over the course of the season, it is safe to say Wolves’ trust in VAR has completely dispersed.

Numerous terrible decisions have gone against the club since matchday one which has only enraged fans throughout the season.

Now, after Wolves’ proposal to remove the system completely, it suggests that the club has lost all faith in its ability to make the right decisions.

While the table above accounts for all decisions made whether they are subjective or not, it shows that these do not even out across the course of a campaign.

For Wolves to be that low in the table is baffling. Hopefully, in the upcoming meeting, VAR will be scrapped from the Premier League once and for all.
