President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a military meeting in Kharkiv. Given the difficult situation in this area, it was decided to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to the president's Telegram.

"As of today, the situation in the Kharkiv region is in general under control, our soldiers are inflicting significant losses on the occupier. But the sector remains extremely difficult - we are strengthening our units," he said.

To assess the situation, the president heard a detailed report from the Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, commanders of Khortytsia military unit Yurii Sodol and Kharkiv separate military unit Mykhailo Drapatyi.

The heads of the Defence Intelligence and the Special Forces reported on the Russian intentions, and the Security Service chief reported on counter-sabotage measures.

"A plan of further actions has been determined - both for the Kharkiv regional authorities and all agencies responsible for security in the region," he said.

Zelenskyy also heard reports from regional authorities of other border and frontline regions on the current situation, main risks, and key needs, giving appropriate instructions.

Situation in Kharkiv sector

Russian troops have been advancing in the border areas of the Kharkiv region since May 10.

They have been mercilessly shelling the local population. Because of the escalating situation, several thousand people have been evacuated these days.

According to the General Staff, the situation in the Kharkiv direction has been stabilized in recent days and the Armed Forces of Ukraine have prevented Russian troops from penetrating urban areas of Volchansk. However, they are trying hard to capture the city.
