Report: Celtic want £2.5m for Ange Postecoglou signing with European Cup winners interested in buying him

Celtic are asking for £2.5m for an Ange Postecoglou signing with three Italian clubs all interested in buying him, according to a recent report.

After sealing the Scottish Premiership title last night, attention will begin to turn towards the summer transfer window for Brendan Rodgers and club chiefs.

It’s been a tough season back for Rodgers but ultimately it’s ended with silverware, though, he’ll want to make his own imprint on the squad he inherited from Postecoglou.

That said, it has just emerged that The Hoops are willing to sanction the sale of a player who is set to return from a loan deal in the Championship.

Celtic want £2.5m for Sead Haksabanovic

Postecoglou brought Sead Haksabanovic to Celtic in 2022 for a reported fee worth £2.1m in 2022 but now less than two years later, he could leave when he returns from his Stoke City loan.

Haksabanovic was shipped out on loan to The Potters at the beginning of the season but has failed to make an impact in the English second tier.

The 25-year-old has netted just once in 19 league appearances and it seems Rodgers is keen to move him on in the summer, with a £2.5m price tag mooted, according to Fotbol Direkt.

The report further claims that European Cup winners Parma are interested in signing him, along with Torino and Verona.

Where Celtic need to strengthen this summer transfer window

If Celtic are to receive a decent wedge for Haksabanovic, they should reinvest the money in a centre-back and goalkeeper following Joe Hart’s retirement.

Further, The Bhoys will find it tough to keep hold of Matt O’Riley, who is attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur among others.

So if their talisman is to depart this summer, the club must adequately replace him and allow Rodgers the funds to really strengthen across the pitch.
