'100%': Kieran Gibbs says 'amazing' ace has been Inter Miami's best non-Barcelona-related signing

Kieran Gibbs has named one Inter Miami ace as the club’s best non-Barcelona-related signing in the last 12 months.

The arrival of Lionel Messi last year opened the doors for Barcelona-linked players to join Inter Miami, with club legends Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba quickly joining their former teammate with Luis Suarez signing this January.

With Inter Miami still rumored with Barcelona players such as Sergi Roberto, the link between the two teams is one that isn’t going to die soon, something that Herons’ supporters will be grateful for in the years to come.

Yet former defender Gibbs has been impressed by one signing this season with no links to Barcelona.

Matias Rojas named as one of Inter Miami’s best new signings

Speaking on the Inter Miami Weekly Show, the former Arsenal star lauded Matias Rojas and the impact the attacking midfielder has made at Inter Miami since signing last month as a free agent.

The Paraguayan international has been a revelation for Inter Miami having scored three goals and bagging an assist in his first four games with the Herons, and Gibbs has showered Rojas with some high praise.

The former England international said if Rojas has been Inter Miami’s best non-Barcelona-related signing recently: “I 100% agree, the only problem is how long can Inter Miami keep hold of him! He is that good.

“He is definitely a signing of that caliber, for me. Fantastic, cultured left-foot, loves to beat in-between the lines, loves to get turning and running at players, he’s been an amazing addition, and I can’t wait to see more of him.”

Rojas has been a gem of a find for Inter Miami

Given how long it took for Inter Miami to get Rojas’ signature officially across the line, it’s safe to say that the Herons’ patience was well worth it with how well the 28-year-old has taken to life in MLS.

The former Corinthians star has adjusted to Inter Miami expertly, with Rojas already a key starter for Tata Martino and complimenting the likes of Messi and Suarez well in the attack.

Should Rojas remain at Inter Miami for the Copa America, the Florida franchise will have an outstanding outlet to replace the key players who have left for the competition, which could cripple the Herons in a big way.
