Kieran Gibbs has suggested that one Inter Miami player can do something that not even Lionel Messi can do.
The Argentine international is without question the greatest soccer player to ever touch the field, with Messi a record-breaking eight-time Ballon d’Or winner and reigning FIFA World Cup champion.
Despite being 36-years-old, Messi is still at the top of his game and is now regularly setting new records in MLS with Inter Miami having joined the Herons last summer in a landmark deal for US soccer.
Yet Gibbs believes one Inter Miami player has something that Messi can’t do.
Inter Miami Benjamin Cremaschi praised for creating space for Messi
Speaking on the Inter Miami Weekly Show, the former England international lauded Benjamin Cremaschi for the teenager’s ability to join the attack and to create the space needed for Messi to thrive.
With Gibbs also noting how much ground Cremaschi can cover, it’s no surprise why the 19-year-old is so highly rated, with the US international looking set already for a huge move to Europe in the future.
Gibbs said on Cremaschi: “Him joining the frontman is his biggest attribute, I think. With the ground he covers, he has the ability and the physical capacity to support the frontman and break beyond the front four, which is so important when you don’t have a frontman who runs in behind a lot.
“He provides that for Miami and he opens up a lot of space for the likes of Messi to come in and do what he does. He’s the one who can open up the space for the creative players, but he can also play, he’s got the ability to get in between pockets and get running at players. It’s been really good to have him back.”
Cremaschi can be key in Inter Miami’s bid for MLS success
Despite missing the first two months of the season, Cremaschi has returned with a vengeance with Inter Miami, with the midfielder shining having overcome his injury problems.
Two goals already this season show a player who is ready to do everything they can to push Inter Miami to success, and Cremaschi could do just that with if he continues at his current pace.
Indeed, Cremaschi is one of the most exciting prospects in all of MLS, and the teenager can play a big role in helping Inter Miami secure the playoffs and the championship come the end of the season.
