Paul Merson reveals his 'only worry' as he makes Arsenal v Everton score prediction

Paul Merson has now shared his prediction for the outcome of Arsenal v Everton and revealed one secondary worry he has for the North London club.

Arsenal will host Everton in the final game of the Premier League season on Sunday.

This is a must-win fixture for the Gunners. Mikel Arteta’s side need to take all three points at the Emirates Stadium, whilst hoping that West Ham United can at least hold Manchester City to a draw, in order to stand any chance of being crowned champions.

Of course, Manchester City will be considered heavy favourites to retain the title for a fourth successive season. However, Arsenal fan Piers Morgan is hopeful that the Hammers can still deliver a miracle following an encounter with David Moyes, who will be keen to sign off on his tenure as manager with a bang.

Paul Merson shares Arsenal v Everton prediction

At the very least, Paul Merson expects the Gunners to hold up their end of the bargain by beating the Toffees.

Writing for Sportskeeda, the former Arsenal midfielder, who won two league titles across his 417 appearances for the North London club, predicted a 2-0 win for the Gunners against the Merseyside outfit.

Of course, even that triumph won’t be enough for Arsenal to win the league if Manchester City win their match.

On Tuesday evening, Arsenal fans watched on intently as their fierce local rivals Tottenham Hotspur took on Guardiola’s side. Prior to that match, Merson promised he would get a Spurs tattoo if they beat the Cityzens.

As it played out, Tottenham slumped to a 2-0 defeat. South Korean forward Son Heung-min has since apologised for a glaring miss that may well have cost Arsenal the title, but also finished his own team’s chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

It will, of course, be heartbreaking for Arsenal to miss out on the title on the final day of the campaign, if that is how events are to unfold.

Merson fears that such a disappointment could have a lasting and detrimental impact on Arteta’s squad. He said: “They are a fantastic team with a very good young manager at the helm in Mikel Arteta and my only worry will be if they can recover mentally after two draining title charges.”

Arsenal mounted an unexpected title challenge last season, but stumbled during the run-in. Whatever happens this time around, the Gunners have made significant progress since last season.

In fact, Arsenal have already made history this time around by recording 27 Premier League wins in a single campaign for the first time.
