‘Declan Rice type signing’: Journalist says £40m player could be Arsenal’s biggest signing this summer

Arsenal had a huge summer transfer window last season.

The Gunners spent over £200m, on a number of talented players, smashing their own transfer record in the process when signing Declan Rice.

It will be hard for Arsenal to replicate that summer transfer window, but there is a chance that the Gunners do make a marquee signing this summer.

Speaking on Inside Arsenal, Charles Watts has been discussing the Gunners’ summer transfer plans, and he’s suggested that there is room for one big Declan Rice type signing, suggesting that Bruno Guimaraes could be the addition in that mould.

Bruno Guimaraes could be Arsenal’s big signing

Watts spoke about Arsenal making another big signing this summer, claiming that Bruno Guimaraes could be the man they go for.

“I think there’s definitely room for, I think Arsenal will approach the window with getting one signing that will hit the ground running, basically a Declan Rice type signing. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was someone in the mould of Bruno, I’m don’t necessarily think it will be Bruno, but someone like that who could come in,” Watts said.

Exciting summer ahead

This could be a very exciting summer for Arsenal, and, strangely, for the second year running, many of their incoming signings could be of a similar mould.

Last year, Arsenal signed a big-money midfielder, a new attacker, a new defender and a goalkeeper.

This year, Arsenal may still sign a big-money midfielder like Guimaraes, they still need a new striker, left-back cover is needed, and a new goalkeeper addition could be necessary if Aaron Ramsdale leaves.

Somehow, Arsenal have found themselves in a very similar situation to the one they were in this time last year, and if they can put together another transfer window like the one they had in 2023, they will be serious contenders again next season.
