'No problem': Theo Walcott suggests he'd love £22m Tottenham player to score tonight and then Arsenal sign him

Theo Walcott has joked that he would love one Tottenham Hotspur player to join Arsenal after scoring the goal to boost the Gunners’ title hopes when they face Manchester City on Tuesday.

Spurs fans will have incredibly mixed feelings heading into their penultimate game of the campaign, as they host Manchester City in North London.

It is still possible that Ange Postecoglou’s men could finish in the top-four and qualify for the Champions League next year, but they need to win their remaining two games to stand any chance.

Of course, should Tottenham maintain their outstanding record at their new home against Manchester City, then that will mean that Arsenal will go into the final day of the season top of the table.

Theo Walcott suggests Heung-min Son would be welcome at Arsenal

Cesc Fabregas believes that the title race will be decided in tonight’s game, so there is bound to be an uneasy feeling if any Tottenham player scores the goal which allows Arsenal to put one hand on the trophy.

Chris Sutton told The Monday Night Club that a goal which helps Arsenal win the title may not help a Tottenham player’s popularity with his own fans, and that prompted Theo Walcott to suggest that he would love Heung-min Son to be the difference-maker.

“Maybe in years to come that particular player won’t be getting many after dinner events at their particular club,” Sutton said.

“Well, hopefully it’s Son because everyone loves a bit of Son. I’ll take him at Arsenal, he can score and then come to Arsenal – no problem,” Walcott replied.

Tottenham squad have chance to put themselves in Gunners folklore

Of course, there seems to be next to no chance of a player like Son making the move from Tottenham to Arsenal. The £22 million forward is the Spurs captain and will certainly go down as one of their greatest Premier League players.

But Walcott’s comments do highlight how this Spurs squad have this bizarre opportunity to write their name into Arsenal folklore, rightly or wrongly.

Obviously, the fate of the title hinges on a lot more than this one game. But it will undoubtedly be even sweeter for Arsenal fans if Tottenham are seen to play a role in their title win.

For Spurs, the ideal scenario would be a win on Tuesday which keeps their top-four hopes alive before Arsenal throw it away on the final day.
