'Lifetime contract needed': Man City fans absolutely loved what they saw one player do in Spurs win

Manchester City fans on social media were all saying the same thing after footage emerged of one particular player during the recent win against Tottenham Hotspur.

On Tuesday evening, the Citizens secured a vital 2-0 victory against Ange Postecoglou’s side to put themselves two points above Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table.

With just one game left to play before the campaign ends, a win against West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium would see the Blues become the first side to win four Premier League titles in a row.

After the Spurs game, some fan footage emerged on social media, focusing on what one particular City player did after Erling Haaland scored his second goal of the game from the penalty spot.

Man City fans react as fan footage emerges of Mateo Kovacic during Spurs win

In the video, shared on X by @mcfckova, after Haaland scored his injury-time penalty, Mateo Kovacic ran over to Stefan Ortega to give the goalkeeper a hug in the celebrations, making him the only City player to do so.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from City supporters who couldn’t help but share their admiration for what they saw from the midfielder.

This was a nice touch from Kovacic

Bearing in mind how Ortega made three crucial saves after he replaced the injured Ederson in the second half of the match in midweek, it’s safe to say that he was vital in this victory.

It also makes it easy to see why Kovacic felt the need to go and celebrate with the goalkeeper rather than with Haaland and the rest of his teammates straightaway.

In our view, this shows just how appreciative the Croatian was for what Ortega did during his impressive cameo on Tuesday.

Now that Ederson has been ruled out for Sunday’s match against West Ham and next weekend’s FA Cup final against Manchester United, this will give Ortega the chance to once again show his worth in two of City’s biggest games of the season.
